Class X results out, Dagapela student tops
Cut of point for admission to class XI is 61.40 percent
Jambay Kinley of Dagapela middle secondary school in Dagana dzongkhag has topped the 2012 Bhutan Certificate of Secondary Education (BCSE) class X examination with an average percentage of 95 percent.
Sherab Dorji of Samtengang Middle Secondary School in Wangdue dzongkhag is second with an average percentage of 94.60 percent.
Sonam Tshomo and Divya Chhetri, both of Mothithang Higher Secondary School in Thimphu dzongkhag, are third with an average score of 94 percent each.
Of the 10,547 students from 84 schools that registered for the examination 327 failed and 146 were absent according to the news release from the Bhutan Council for school examination and assessment.
The overall pass percentage is 96.86 percent, about 0.18 percent less than the previous year. In English, Dzongkha, History, Civics and Geography (HCG) and computer applications the pass percentage was more than 90 percent. A total of 24 schools had a 100 percent pass percentage.
The overall mean marks are the highest in Computer applications (74.05) followed by Dzongkha (65.33), HCG (60.15) and English (56.73). The lowest means marks are in Economics (52.76), Science (53.18), Math (53.31) and commercial studies (48.77).
The cut off point for admission to class XI in 2013 is 61.40 percent, which is an aggregate of 307 marks in English and best four subjects the department of school education has announced. The department estimates that in keeping with the existing policy of admitting 40 percent of class X completed students to class XI the intake this year will be around 4,435 candidates.

My special congrats to all my students of Ugyen Academy who have lived upto our expectaionns and made us proud by the excellent results you all have brought. Only one student could not make it out of 68 which makes an average pass percentage of 99% and 72% of students qualifying for Govt. schools.
