The day was not hot as expected, but quite wet in fact. Fortunately the rain eased up as the day wore on and most of the cleaning was possible without all of the participants becoming completely soaked.
We are happy to report that the day turned out to be a good bonding exercise for the students and faculty. Slacking and shirking was replaced by everybody pulling their weight and doing the best they could. No umbrella-carrying-while-shouting-instructions for our teachers. Each teacher put their backs into the task at hand from picking trash to loading the garbage trucks at the end.
The program was closed with a round of refreshments provided by the Thimphu Thromde. We look forward to more June 2 programs in the future. On the 9th of June we will conduct a marijuana-removal campaign to be done by staff and parents of Pelkhil School.
