PELKHIL’S RIVERSIDE CLEANING CAMPAIGN

On June 2, to mark Social Forestry Day, Pelkhil School, in collaboration with Thimphu Thromde will conduct a Community Service Program for all students with a riverside clean-up campaign along Thimchhu. The area that has been selected is the river bank from the Changjiji bridge to the new Pelkhil bridge at Olakha. Another team will also clean up an area identified by the Thromde.

Students and faculty members will be participating. We invite all parents who are concerned with the health of Thimchhu and cleanliness of Thimphu, to come join us. All members of the public are also invited to celebrate the spirit of community and volunteer for a day!

Thimchhu has become a de facto drain and dumping site for too many of Thimphu’s residents. Until habits change, it is up to us to try to undo at least a little bit of the damage.

If you would like to join us, please call our school office at 340638.
